Ana Asensio, based in New York, is a director/writer/producer/actress from Madrid, Spain.
Asensio wrote, directed, produced, and played the lead role in the feature film MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND, which was awarded the prestigious Grand Jury Prize at the SXSW 2017 film festival. MOST BEAUTIFUL also was nominated for the John Cassavetes Spirit Award in 2018. The film is currently distributed internationally.
On screen, Asensio has appeared on several Spanish television series and in independent films in the U.S. Among her credits: TU ME MANQUES, directed by Rodrigo Bellot; ZENITH by Vladan Nikolic; and the HBO short film BETTY LA FLACA.
In theater, she has performed in and produced three contemporary one-woman shows: THE DIVA, MEDEA'S GOT SOME ISSUES, and MICA'S SKIN, and has toured the world with them, receiving commendatory reviews and multiple awards in every setting.
Asensio is currently working on her second film as writer/director. The feature, entitled GOAT GIRL, is scheduled to begin production the summer of 2023 in Madrid and will be produced by Aqui y Alli Films and Avalon.
